The hat was like what one use to call a “golfers hat”…as only golfers use to wear them…and this is back before women golfed….now everyone wears them…people that work with  Parking Enforcement might…..(hmm Rod)……….

Her skin was just so SO WONDERFULLY BLACK…..which reminded me of the first time I saw someone with such enticing skin…

.you gotta realize I NEVER knew any Black People in DC…except for dear dear Alice…until 1957at St Albans when they finally let in a Black guy….Frank Snowden….who synergistic-ally ended up being  my last  roommate Maria’s (the brilliant Gorgeous woman from Bulgaria) History Professor at Yale where he still teaches…and Maria now is in Doha (sigh)..teaching girls Italian in Arabic ….she only speaks like 12 languages……she looks like a young Carla Bruni………..

….it was a guy I met at Carleton College…my freshman year…I think his name was Ben Abbe….and he was from I think  Uganda…probably wrong on that….but from Africa…this is back in 1964…..he was like 6′ 2…and had a smile that could melt butter….before it hit the skillet…..wonder what happened to him…

I was at my usual fave..”Angeli” on Melrose…..with my favorite cast of waiters and one small in height bald bus boy or whatever the correct PC term is….he has I think like 12 children…does not speak much English but has a smile that could warm your cat…..he is ALWAYS there..every lunch and dinner…every day…

I was greeted by one of the familiar waiters who said “I saw you at the gym yesterday….and then later in a shop near the gym”…..which did not amaze me as I get into my own zone…and really do not notice anyone unless they run over me…

totally different than  my youth chapter when I was searching for approval as I had such low self esteem….and ogling everyone with Lil Orphan Annie eyes……..

but anyway..this totally Gorgeous Woman ..(40’s to early 50’s…since Black don’t crack it is hard to guess)…….with the Ebony skin…walked in with this VERY white older man….who looked like Larry Craig…..probably my age…he had glasses on…whitish hair..a sport coat….and a scarf…..and at one point when he turned and our eyes connected  ..the eyes questioned …”Are YOU hired by my wife”…..

she was a warmly full figured girl….I mean the type you just want to hug….or sleep with…..

that wonderful REALLY  Black skin ( I did not find out until later in my life that most Blacks wanted whiter…cafe au lait skin…thanks to us crackers)….

but she had visually the skin ……  you just wanted to swim in…

the whites of her eyes were SO  much MORE pronounced than on most people….I mean they TOTALLY conveyed her feelings….the same curse my dear friend Michelle has….one can read IMMEDIATELY what these women are thinking…..

he did not wait for her to be seated…so I wondered…does she work for him…is she a mistress…

when the waiter asked What they wanted to drink…she looked at Him…he said “water” and she said “water”…..

after they were served their water she excused herself….and after she had been gone for a minute …the white dufus…took out a pocket size check book…and wrote a check…as he kept nervously  looking over his shoulder….and then he flipped back through the check book as though he was figuring out his balance……but he kept looking over his shoulder for her…like he was doing something he did NOT want her to know…..

she returned and he did NOT stand up to seat her….but he then flipped open his phone and excused himself….as he was just staring at the face of the phone…she did not smile…and MAN what LIPS…she had…..but they were not smiling…..

when he left she took out a shawl from her purse (?)….it was a deep purple…she gently positioned it around her shoulders….settling herself in….

she reminded me SOOO much of one of my favorite actresses…Viola Davis….and for a nano-second..I believed it WAS her…and I was in HER movie…

I blinked and realized THIS woman’s bosom is MORE  ample….twins could nest here at the same time…

the restaurant filled up…

they needed  my table..

.I HAD to leave….without seeing the next act with a woman I fell in admiration and love with…

she was adjusting her shawl as I passed by her table…and our eyes connected…..

eyes of steel and determination…..

I sighed…and ambled off onto Melrose…..
