Embraced

March 9, 2014

I had one of those unexpected deliciously warmly embracing weekends …that went from a bud to a Beautiful Bloom

….it left me quite speechless…

I motored down to Palm Springs to stay with my dear friend Ron…..

he is originally from Milwaukee….and the more I meet guys from there….I Sooo wish I had grown up there….

they are truly the salt of the earth…..

Ron is THE realtor to buy from…as he truly cares……not like my dear departed friend Avery Van Arthur….who years ago was selling Peetsy Hayward’s house in West Hollywood…..Peetsy was the first wife of the old silent screen star Louis Hayward…..

I will NEVER forget when I accompanied him as he was showing Peetsy’s house….and as we the entered the dining room…and he pointed (without looking up)…to the crystal “Baccarat” chandelier in the dining room….saying and of course this comes with the asking price….

whereupon we all looked up to see a bare lightbulb hanging down……

I do miss Avery…as he use to escort his blind mother “Miss Dottie”…to parties….and he dressed her and put on her make up…..

well you KNEW what spirit Avery was in…as if it looked like Miss Dottie had war paint on….

you would say to yourself “Ohh…oh” he must be in a bad mood……

when she passed on…he had a service for her at a chapel in Forest Lawn…..her hearse got lost on the freeway…she was to be cremated…he had the organist play “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”

the wonderful people who have bought houses from Ron years ago formed a group called “The Boozie Bunch”…to get together when possible on Fridays and Sundays at different locales…..

Friday eve we arrived later than usual….

what ALWAYS amazes me….is that this group is SOO welcoming….that on entering I feel like Sally Fields in her Oscar acceptance speech years ago…where she honestly expressed her emotion saying “You REALLY like me!!!!”…..and this is what the Boozy Bunch makes you feel….

I had a wonderful talk with someone I have met before (you have to realize the Boozey Bunch consists of like 30-40 people at different times….)

so it is hard to remember who is whom much less have a chance to talk to them….

I had the chance to talk to someone I have always wanted to……

he shares my knowledge of “Old Souls”….which was quite comforting….we talked about how uplifting it is to meet people who share the same path….

my dear friend Michelle is such an old soul…that I KNOW it is her last time on earth….as people sense it…and emotionally tackle her when they see her…..so she does NOT leave…..(no wonder she has shingles as she automatically takes on their emotional burden…something she can not help or stop…..)

for me the understanding of “Old Souls”….came from a play I read in college …and I cannot remember the title or who wrote it…

but in this play it basically is about a cruise ship….everyone congregates at the bar

…..it is a ship carrying passengers either onto the next “Life”

….or back to the physical existence of THIS Life……

the bartender was talking to this one couple who committed suicide….by gassing themselves in their house……

the bartender unbeknownst to anyone is

God or the Spirit that guides your Essence….

the next thing this couple knew was that their dog broke through their basement window….”saving” them ….making them stay on earth….

as THEY had NOT got it right yet……

I just came back from brunch at the Idiot…and was asking my extremely attractive waitress…how was her love life….

she said you could not have asked me anything that is more hurtful……

I looked into her Intense Hazel Eyes…..saying it took me years to like my self….you are beautiful….if he is a painful shit…dump him…she said…oh I don’t know if I can……

I said it might seem impossible now but I promise you if you do ..you will look back after you start loving what a unique person you are…and just laugh…..it is hard to do…but just embrace the person you are!!!!!

I went down this weekend to attend a dear friend’s Bar Mitzvah…..he is like in his 40’s or 50’s…..has been with his Jewish lover/husband for MANY years……they met each other in the East…..

Larry was born in a Pogrom (sp?) (maybe wrong word)….and had NEVER asked Ed who was born Catholic to change to Judaism …..

as the years have passed….the last 13 especially…..Ed has studied Hebrew…how to pronounce and to decipher all those Extremely (for me) confusing hieroglyphics ……

I just take my hat off to Ed….I so admire him!!!

it just confirms how much he not only embraces Larry’s religion but the depth of feeling he has for Larry

I have never in my life been in a synagogue….much less ever been to a Bar Mitzvah…..

I CANNOT tell you what an Electrically Full of Love Experience it was ….

Rabbi Sally (72 something..going on 42 at the most)…is sooo energetic and loving…she physically embraces everyone…with honest concern…..she explains the whole service as it is unfolding…….

it without a doubt is one of the most touching experiences of my Life so far

Wonderful Marv had a reading entitled: “Lessons For Living”…( I am changing one word)…it ends:

“Do Not dismiss Your Dreams.

To be without dreams is to be without Hope.

To be without Hope is to be without purpose.

Do not run through Life so fast that you forget not only where you have been,

but also where you are going.

Life is not a race, but a journey to be embraced each step of the way.”

Later Wonderful Ron and I motored out to the La Quinta Art Show….

in his classic convertible Mercedes…the one that has a hard top that you have to physically take off and place somewhere…before you can put up the soft top….

it IS the first time I have been in an open car in many many moons…..so wonderfully California….

the La Quinta Art show is one of the best open air ..if not the best…in the country…the setting is soooo wonderful…around a lake..or pond really…with a Jete d’Eau in the middle

I was amazed to look down at one point to see 3 mallards ambling through the booths…..

the sun was beginning to set beyond the mountains…

my eye was struck by these Acrylic sculptures…the way the sun hit and ignited this one piece…..it would change from a deep blue to a deep purple depending on how you looked at it……

I bought it…

asked the artist Will Grant what it was called…he said:

“Embraced”

Always a pleasure to read, the Bar Mitzvah was wonderful, very touching. Enjoy the week until you return to sunny, fun filled Palm Springs
